Love in the Bible

Saturdays, February 11 and 18, 2017 • 12:45-1:45 p.m. (following services and kiddush lunch)

The word “love” has so many meanings that it seems impossible to talk about love in the Bible without first saying: what type of love?
In this course we will review biblical attitude towards different types of love:  children’s love of their parents, parental love, romantic love, friendship love, God’s love of us and our love of God. We will review both the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible, Old Testament) views, and the New Testament’s views, highlighting similarities and differences. Please bring a full Bible (at least a full Tanakh)
to class.
Gideon Amir teaches courses on biblical topics at numerous synagogues, churches and adult education institutes, including the Foundation for Jewish Studies.
